Kirsty Rafferty Crowned Barista Champion
The National Barista Competition was held at Sodexo's Salon Culinaire in October. Kirsty Rafferty was crowned winner of the competition after her outstanding performance delivering exceptional customer service on the coffee cart, and also delighting all with her technical skills and her signature drink. This was Kirsty's fourth year as a finalist in the competition, after coming second last year.
Kirsty has been with Sodexo for eleven years, and runs an Aspretto bar at the Scottish Parliament and is also training other employees to be baristas.
Sodexo's Salon Culinaire
Sodexo's Salon Culinaire took place at Ascot Racecourse on 21 October, serving up an exciting day of culinary expertise with live cooking competitions and over 900 Sodexo colleagues competing. Apprentices, senior chefs and baristas demonstrated why Sodexo has a culinary heritage to be proud of.
Judges agreed that the quality and skills on display had significantly improved this year and the record number of awards issued reflected their views.
Tom Allen and Louisa May Matthews from Wycombe Abbey School won the Best Static entry, Greg Wallace from Yarm School won the Best Live entry, Liam Pope from LVS, Ascot won Sodexo Young Chef of the Year and Paul Harris from DTS Leconfield won Best Apprentice. Congratulations to them all.
